She was born on January 21, 1959, grew up in East Ridge and graduated from East Ridge High School in 1977. She moved to Decatur, Tennessee in 2001 before moving to Lowgap, N.C. in 2014.
She is preceded in death by her father: Don Gilbert; stepfather: J.L. Perkinson; grandparents: Callie Jones, Gladys Gilbert, Edna Gilbert; brother: Mike Gilbert.
She is survived by her husband of 12 years: Gary Hughes; son: Shawn (Ashley) Mitchell; mother: Carol Perkinson; two sisters: Karen Gilbert and Tammy Branham; brother: Danny (Gladys) Gilbert; aunt: Barbara Jones; nephew: Chris (Diana) Gilbert.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday January 5th, 2025 from 2-5 PM at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tennessee.
