He was born on December 25, 1928 in Chicago, IL to James Sherman and Alberta (Harbison) Miller. He married Joan C. Reichel June 27, 1953 in Peoria, IL. She preceded him in death October 28, 2003 in Peoria. His parents and one brother, Charles ‘Chuck” Miller also preceded him in death.
Surviving are three sons, Steve (Marsha) Miller of West Peoria; Scott (Tina) Miller of Norwood and Stuart (Kathy) Miller of Carterville, IL. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Sherman served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharge in 1949. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Bradley University and worked as a C.P.A for many years with McGladry, Hanson and Dunn and then served as Senior Vice President with Home Federal Savings and Loan, until retiring in 1992. He was a Past President of the Peoria Optimist Club, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants, he attended Living Hope Community Church and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.
