R.B. Smith

R.B. Smith, 89 of Peoria Heights, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 at Cornerstone Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. Born September 21, 1926 in Johnston City, IL to Scott and Eunice (Ray) Smith; he married Marian Emert on December 31, 1948 and they were together for 65 years until her death on July 25, 2014. Also preceding in death were his daughter, Roberta Joyce; granddaughter Jody Mosburg; three brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his daughter, Linda (Bob) Mosburg of Bartonville; four grandchildren, Sheila (Bill) Doering of Creve Coeur, Laura Henry of Pekin, and Billy and Kellie Joyce, both of Peoria; great grandchildren, Shawnae, Scotti, Ashley and Tony; his great-great granddaughter, Morgan; and his sister, Opal Copeland of Peoria. R.B. worked for Peoria Public Schools District #150, retiring in 1992 as head custodian of Lindbergh School after 18 years with the district. He enjoyed spending time with his family. R.B. was known as “The Dancing King” at Cornerstone Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. His family would like to thank the caring individuals at Cornerstone who devoted extra time and support throughout his time there. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, August 19, 2016 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Herb Ross will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Cornerstone Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
