She was born September 20, 1947 in Peoria to Oral and Alice (Jones) Stapleton. She married Richard “Joe” Story on July 20, 1968 at East Peoria First United Methodist Church. He passed away February 9, 2019 at Richard Owens Hospice after suffering a traumatic brain injury. She is also proceeded in death by her parents, one brother, Stevie Stapleton, and one sister, Linda Shea.
Survivors include two daughters: Joliene (Chris) Cunefare of East Peoria, Amy Jo Story of West Peoria and one son, Chad (Elizabeth) Story of East Peoria, one granddaughter, Kalee Cunefare of East Peoria and one brother, Bill (Lori) of Stapleton of East Peoria.
Julie was a graduate of Robein grade school and EPCHS class of 1965. Julie was a beautician working out of her home for over 35 years. Julie loved her flowers and making arrangements. She even worked for a short time at Sheridan Nursery and Becks Florist. She enjoyed family vacations to Park Rapids, MN in the summer to fish and visit with the same Birch Harbor crew year after year.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be Monday, June 26, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
