Judith Ann Shelton

Judith Ann Shelton, 82, of Downers Grove, formerly of East Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Oak Trace Senior Living in Downers Grove. She was born on July 24, 1940 in Vandalia, a daughter of Louis Fred and Geneva (Herring) Lawrence.

Judith is survived by son, Brad McGehee and daughter-in -law, Tina McGehee of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina; granddaughter, Kayla Anderson and son-in-law, Cody Anderson of Franklin, Wisconsin; and grandson, Brendon McGehee and fiancé, Mary Cancini of Sterling, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Fred Lawrence and Geneva Lawrence of East Peoria, Illinois; and brothers, Jim Lawrence and Freddie Allen Lawrence.

Judith graduated from East Peoria High School in 1958.

In Peoria, Judith worked for Georgetown Life Insurance Company before moving to Downers Grove, Illinois where she worked for the Office of Special Deputy Receivers Insurance Agency in Chicago, Illinois where she retired from in 2007.

Judith was very active in volunteering where she was a greeter and escort for patients and families at Advocate-Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Illinois.

She cherished her independence and loved her condo in Westbrook West in Downers Grove, where she could sit out on her patio. She enjoyed playing cards and Dominoes. She had many lasting friendships, especially with a few of her high school classmates. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren.

Judith's graveside service will be private at Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria.
