Catherine "Cathy" M. McKenna

Catherine Marie "Cathy" McKenna, 87, of East Peoria, formerly of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at her daughter’s home. She was born on February 17, 1936 in Peoria, a daughter of Lawton L. and Esther Pauline (Twedell) Durham.

Cathy is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Chris) Dixon of East Peoria; her son, Mark (Kim) Wexler of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Alexander Wexler of Peoria, Joshua (Gissel Cruz) Dixon of East Peoria, Elijah (Bailee) Dixon of Morton, and Olivia Wexler of Bloomington; one great-granddaughter, Laila Wexler of Peoria; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two beloved sisters, Mary Ann Benisch and Betty Lindenmeyer.

Cathy worked in accounts payable at Caterpillar, Inc. for 24 years, retiring in 1998.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in East Peoria. Cathy enjoyed floral arranging, upholstering furniture and arts and crafts. She enjoyed having lunch with good friends and spending time with her family.

Cathy's funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in East Peoria. Rev. Brian Pape will officiate. Her visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. An additional visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at her church. Burial will take place in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
