Age 90, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Virginia was born in Fremont, Michigan February 16, 1924. Her parents were William and Elmira Nieboer. Virginia graduated from Fremont High School, worked at Gerber Baby Foods and attended the Reformed Bible College. She was a busy homemaker and volunteered at Sparrow Hospital and delivered food for Meals-on-Wheels. She was an active member of River Terrace Christian Reformed Church where she was involved in Friendship, Faith in Action and secretary functions. When her husband retired they enjoyed traveling and spending time with grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Tharon M. DeYoung and sister Evelyn Visscher. She is survived by her children Lynnette (Vern) Stepp, Jr., Roger (Ellen) DeYoung, Loren (Mary) DeYoung; grandchildren, Benjamin, Lee Ann, Max DeYoung, Steve (Sarah) Cary, Angela (Eddie) Burns and great granddaughter, Annabelle Cary. Also survived by brother, Harry; (Elna) Nieboer, sister, Betty (Jonas) Chupp and brother-in-law, Harold Visscher.
We rejoice that mother had a long and fruitful life as the salt of the earth and is now with her Lord.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 24, 11:00 a.m. at River Terrace Christian Reformed Church, 1509 River Terrace, East Lansing with Rev. Sam Perry officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing and one hour prior to the service at the church.
