Little did Shirley know at 8 years old she was living next door to the love of her life, Larry Gruenwald. On April 12, 1958 she and Larry were married and have spent almost 64 years as husband and wife. Over the years they have raised a family together and experienced many adventures together.
Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was a talented cake decorator and made the best cookies. Spending time with her family brought her the greatest joy; especially playing cards & games, family outings together and the family Easter Egg fights. She loved visiting Lake Huron and walking on the beach, Shirley also enjoyed camping trips and quiet times sitting outside enjoying the sounds of nature. Shirley was a member of St. Martha Parish in Okemos.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Gruenwald; 5 children, David (Jackie) Gruenwald, Linda (Tom) Wood, Gail (Tim) Fuller, Diane (Patrick) Myall, and Donna (Steve) Klinger; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Ron Beadle also many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Vicki Erickson and sister-in-law, Barb Beadle.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 28, 2022 at St. Martha Parish, Okemos with Father Michael Murray as Celebrant. Visiting will be held at the church one hour prior from 10-11 am. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Lansing Chapel with a Vigil Service at 7:30 pm.
