Richard is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Reed; his children; Richard and Joan (Wells) Reed, Cathy (Reed)and Ray Piper; loving grandchildren: Scott Reed and Mary Lupnitz (Fiance), Justin and Michelle (Reed)Smith, Adam and Nicole (Piper) Schneider, and Aric and Lisa (Piper) Standish; his ten loving great-grandchildren: Braelyn, Leah, Reid, Claire, Kara, Owen, Ryder, Ashli, Krystal, and Zane and his two sisters-in-law, Sue Thornton and Audrey Reed.
Richard Lewis Reed is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Julia (Reed) North and his two brothers, Robert Reed and Leon Reed.
Richard graduated from Bath High school in 1949 and would go on to honorably serve his country for a brief stint in the United States Army. He would marry the love of his life, Mary Therese (Rogers) Reed in 1953; together they would celebrate 68 loving years. He worked and retired from Olofsson Corporation after 43 years of service. He was a man that marched to the beat of his own drum. He had a love for the great outdoors, his passions were archery, hunting and fishing, most of all always creating many fond memorable moments with his family on every adventure taken. He and his wife were members of the Ingham County Conservation Club – Falcon Archers. Richard will be loved and missed by many.
A Visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing, Michigan 48823, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM with closing prayers to follow.
