Passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2010 at the age of 51. Mark was born on June 17, 1959 in Ripon WI to Norbert and Audrey (Wavrunek) Speier. Mark graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a B.A. in Engineering Arts and from Depaul University with a MBA. Mark was employed in the industrial machinery business his entire adult life, working for companies in locations across the United States. Mark’s career led to frequent trips to locations throughout the world and resulted in his enjoyment of learning languages, including German, Japanese, Swedish, and Finnish. Mark loved golfing and hockey—coaching his sons, playing, and watching the MSU Spartans and the Detroit Redwings. While Mark enjoyed his work and activities, his passion was his family. In addition to his parents, Mark is survived by his wife of 20 years, Cheri (Brophy); sons, Mark Edward and Chris; sisters Ann (Rick) Mlodzik and Ellen Caban; nieces and nephews, Emilie and Eddie Caban, Teddy and Riky Mlodzik; and Jered and Carmen Brophy. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 13, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Student Parish, Father Mark Inglot presiding. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and on Sunday, December 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel, East Lansing.
