Marilyn Mastrovito McMahon, age 87, of East Lansing, Michigan passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024, surrounded by her husband and daughters. Marilyn was born on July 30, 1936, in Lansing, Michigan. She attended Sexton High School and Michigan State University. Marilyn was a lifelong resident of the Lansing area. She enjoyed Michigan's four seasons, especially skiing, figure skating and spending time by the water in Traverse City. She was also a dedicated parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
The most important part of Marilyn's life was her family, and she especially treasured every moment with her grandkids. She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Dr. Joseph McMahon, her loving daughters Karin (Patrick) Patterson and Kathleen (Steven) Wakulsky, and her cherished grandchildren Thomas, Brian, Anne, Matthew and Hannah. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends to mourn her loss.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her infant son Patrick, her siblings Dolores Mastrovito Crossley and John Mastrovito, her mother Ruth Koessel Mastrovito and her father Emilio Mastrovito.
A funeral mass will be celebrated by Rev. Gordon Reigle at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing, Michigan. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association, to acknowledge her courageous battle with the disease. The family is grateful for the long-time, loving care and support of a number of exceptional home caregivers, especially Rhonda and Carol, as well as the staff at Provision Living of East Lansing.
