We regretfully announce the passing of Krystyna (Krysia) Brisco (Wasilewska) of East Lansing, Michigan on March 19th, 2022. Krystyna passed away peacefully at home after a hard battle with pancreatic cancer.
Our mother, Krystyna, was one of the strongest, courageous, and kindest women we have ever known, and our family was so blessed to have her. Krystyna was born in Poland to Edward and Teodora Denka and grew up on a small farm.
In 1972, she married her first husband, Piotr Wasilewski, and together they went on to have five children. The couple emigrated to the United States with their small children in 1983, during martial law in Poland. They lived in the Upper Peninsula for a year, then in East Lansing where Piotr died in 1993. Krystyna met her second husband, Gary, at a dance in 2000.
Krystyna was a wonderful and loving mother who gave her all to her family. She was an avid gardener, loved the Nevada desert, dancing Polka, traveling, and cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Krystyna was predeceased by her first husband, Piotr; her brother, Jolek, and his wife, Ela; her young sister Maria; parents; and her grandson, Alexander.
She is survived by her loving husband Gary; her five children, Thomas, Anna, Gabriela, Maria, and Stas; her step-daughter Cari; sister Alicja and brother Zbyszek; her grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 24th at St. Thomas Aquinas, 955 Alton Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823 at noon. Visitation will precede Mass beginning at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Aquinas, and a luncheon is scheduled afterward in the Father Mac Hall of the Church. The funeral Mass will also be streamed live on YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6bTDMvuiOE. Flowers and cards can be sent to 6343 Towar Ave. East Lansing, MI 48823.
