Kazuo "Al" Kawauchi, 95, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 in Lansing, Michigan. He was born July 19, 1925 in Terminal Island, California to Kojiro and Iwae (Naruse) Kawauchi. Al grew up in Southern California, and after he married Haruko (Fujimoto), they raised their family in Ithaca, New York where he worked as a chicken sexer for 36 years in Ithaca. Next, they moved to Roseville, California for 10 yrs, followed by a move to Tampa, Florida for 15 yrs. They moved to Okemos, Michigan in 2017.
Al and Haruko celebrated 60 years of marriage in November 2020. Outside of work, Al enjoyed golfing, fishing, and gardening both flowers and vegetables - especially when living in California and Florida. He was also a proud veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Yukio, Hiroshi, George, and Yoshihiro.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Haruko (Fujimoto) Kawauchi; his sons, Ronald (Rosetta) and John (Marisa) Kawauchi; and his grandchildren, Joseph, David, John, Angelina, Zachary, and Jonathan.
A Private Family service will be held Feb. 16 at 11 a.m.
