Karyn Marie Pearl of Okemos, MI passed away peacefully after a long illness, at her home on June 21, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on March 21,1968 in Lansing, MI to the late James and Dorothy Kuerbitz (Whiteman).
Karyn attended Olivet High School, where she excelled in track & field and basketball, attending multiple Honor Roll and All City track meets. Karyn attended LCC on an athletic scholarship before transferring to MSU to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in 1991. Karyn worked in the MSU Stores department while attending MSU and was hired full-time after graduation, spending 20 years supervising the department. She finished her career as an administrative analyst in the MSU Controller’s office, retiring in 2021.
Karyn loved her years at MSU and was very proud of her work there. But her greatest joy was raising her children, Jason and Meghan. She enjoyed spending many years cheering on Jason’s athletic events and building friendships with his teammates’ families. Meghan’s passion and talent for ballet gave her the opportunity to chair many committees for the Children’s Ballet Theatre. Her conversion to Catholicism during these years added the additional joy of faith to her life.
Karyn is survived by her husband Scott Pearl, son Jason (Madison) Pridgeon, daughter Meghan Pearl, brother Jim (Angie) Kuerbitz, and nephews Tyler (Amanda) Bergstrom, Kevin Kuerbitz, and Jack Kuerbitz.
The family will have a private memorial service at St. Thomas Aquinas.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 915 Alton Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823, or your local hospice.
