A graduate of Eaton Rapids High School, Class of 1963, John embarked on a fulfilling career path that spanned decades. He dedicated over two decades of his life to Airco, serving as a fill plant operator from 1977 to 2001. John then transitioned to a new role as a bus driver for Haslett Public Schools, where he became a familiar and reassuring presence to countless students.
Beyond his professional endeavors, John found solace and joy in his hobbies. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished moments spent camping and hunting, and his passion for cars fueled many adventures.
John's love story with Lori, his wife of 44 years, began on June 27, 1980. Their partnership was a beacon of strength and companionship, weathering the storms of life with grace and resilience. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
John was the beloved husband of Lori Kelley; loving father of Tim (Karen) Kelley, Scott (Sandy) Kelley and Megan (Adam) Lott; cherished grandfather of Shaymus Kelley and Kylie Lott; dear brother of JoAnn Miller and Carol Saska; fond uncle of numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law of Jody (Warren) Kimble, Jim (Sherry) Haviland and Rich (Lisa) Haviland.
A funeral service for John will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11:00am with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 E. Grand River Ave. East Lansing, MI 48823. Interment to follow at East Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in memory of John.
