Jeffrey Glen Joy of Haslett, MI, born December 4th 1954, left us unexpectedly on the morning of April 25, 2022 at the age of 67. Jeff proudly served our Ingham County community as a dedicated and decorated police officer, retiring from the Sheriff’s office in 2006, after a 25 year career, achieving the rank of Detective Lieutenant. With excitement, he parlayed his law enforcement career to support MSU Athletics, spending every home game supervising and working on the Tunnel Crew of the Event Staff at Spartan Stadium. He enjoyed the days seeing friends, meeting new people, and watching football. Jeff’s outgoing and engaging personality meant he never met a stranger. Jeff, the fifth of nine children of Haslett’s Joy family always enjoyed family events with his siblings, camping, summer bonfires, and supporting his grandchildren and nieces and nephews at their activities and sporting events. He was a loving husband, father, brother, friend and Papa.
His mother Agnes, father Harold, and brother Scott preceded him in death. He leaves his close and loving family; his wife of 39 years, Ginny, children Lauren, Brian (fiancé Samantha), and Lindsay, grandsons, Jaxten, and Liam, step-granddaughter Brianna; siblings Cindy (Ed) Tank, Candy Joy, John Joy, Jim (Kathy) Joy, Teresa (Ken) Ouellette, Mike (Tiffanie) Joy, Pat (Tina) Joy; in-laws Betsy (Ed) Murphy, Patsy (Art) Brandstatter, Joe Edwards, Jane (Rich) McCarius, along with many nieces and nephews.
Jeff’s family will host visitation from 4:30 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home East Lansing Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in East Lansing. Visitation from 9:30- to 10:30 am will precede the 10:30 Mass.
