Jason Alan Knickerbocker was born on November 27, 1977, in the small town of Vestaburg, Michigan to Richard and Ida Knickerbocker. The Lord called Jason home at the young age of 44 years old on July 22, 2022. While his family and friends are deeply saddened by this sudden event, we take so much comfort in knowing that we will one day see him again.
How does one describe Jason in just a few paragraphs? It’s an impossible task. While we will do our best, we hope that you will share with the family the memories we missed!
Anyone who has ever had a conversation with Jason knows that you always need to corroborate the facts of whatever story he is telling you... because, well, he LOVED pranks and always thought his were soooo funny! While Jason could never be taken too seriously, he was the one person that most of us called first when we needed help; and he was always available. Jason had the heart of a servant, that was always willing to give of his time and energy, never complaining, never asking for anything in return and often doing more than what was even asked of him. You could lean on Jason, trusting that he would always do his best to take care of you.
Jason spent his career as an auto mechanic and mobility technician at Clock Mobility, installing handicap accessible equipment to vehicles. His siblings can tell you stories about how at a very young age, Jason would find anything he could, take it apart, and put it back together, driving his dad a little crazy in the process! Jason had a true gift for figuring things out and finding cheaper and creative ways to fix things. He could be trusted to always tell you the truth and you knew he always had your best interest at heart.
Jason loved to hunt, play on the water, play games and made every super bowl party a blast- little known fact, he was the best charades guesser ever (never lost!). He was deceptively strong; he has removed a 300lb bathtub entirely by himself, gave hugs that felt like they were crushing you, and high fives that left your hands numb from the impact. He had an incredible sweet tooth and don’t get him started on his mom’s sugar cookies.
Jason’s most important and favorite job was being a husband and a father- his home was most assuredly where his heart was and there was no end to what he wouldn’t do for his family. As a father, he taught his daughter how to be creative and curious, made sure she prayed before every meal and could even be found painting her nails (and yes, we have pictures!). As a husband, Jason’s love was reflected in too many ways to be counted, from the way he took care of so many menial tasks to sending flowers randomly just because. He was faithful, reliable and could be trusted in every way, Christy’s strong and steady.
Jason will be missed for so many reasons and has left a hole that can most certainly not be filled. We are so thankful for the time that we had with him and will cherish him in our hearts always.
Jason is survived by his wife Christy Knickerbocker and his daughter Bailey Knickerbocker, his siblings Darla Lopez, Bonnie Lillie, Keith Knickerbocker and Christopher Knickerbocker. He was preceded in death by his brother Ricky and parents Richard and Ida Knickerbocker.
