Henry F. Bader
Okemos, Michigan
Born September 8, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York to Frederick and Eleanor Bader, passed away July 26, 2011 at the age of 83. Henry served as a Navy Seabee from 1944-46 during WWII. He was a Detective Sergeant for the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Dept and retired after 23 years of service. He and his wife moved to Okemos in 1994. Henry loved his boys and felt that the value of a college education was of utmost importance. His pastimes included a love of American history, western movies and his grandchildren. Henry touched many lives with a sincere, simple smile and his favorite saying “Don’t take any wooden nickels.”
Henry was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Annette in 2008. He is survived by his sons, Richard (Kathy) and Robert (Karen); grandchildren, Christine, Kimberly, Travis, Jeff, and Krista.
The family will gather privately in September to celebrate and honor the lives of Henry and Annette Bader. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60603 or the American Cancer Society, 3100 West Rd, Bldg B, Ste 110, East Lansing, MI 48823 in Henry’s memory.
