Eleanor was born to Luther and Rita (Petersen) Rasmussen in Greenville, MI on May 19, 1938. Eleanor was one of six siblings including Lewis Rasmussen (deceased), Elaine Winkler (deceased), Marianna Olson (deceased), Jeanne Dart (deceased), and Joyce Berzins.
She is survived by Arthur Korroch, her husband of 62 years.
Eleanor attended Ferris State University to receive training as a medical assistant and used her education to care for others throughout her entire career. She worked in several different medical fields and always delighted in doing what she could to help people feel better. Her nurturing and generous nature was apparent in everything she did.
Eleanor spent her life outside of work volunteering for various community organizations including The East Lansing Public Library, University Lutheran Church Quilt Group, and The Sparrows at Sparrow Hospital, where she served as president. Any time she could contribute her many skills and talents to helping and supporting others, she was there with a ready heart, a sparkle in her eye, and a strong sense of determination. Her altruism was the center of her being.
Eleanor’s deep ways of caring also emanated forth to raising her two children Kraig Korroch, born 1967, and Karrie Korroch, born 1970, who are honored and privileged to have called her “mom”.
A celebration of Eleanor’s life and beautiful spirit will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2024, 1-3 pm at University Lutheran Church, 1020 S. Harrison Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823. In lieu of flowers, please consider volunteering for an organization in your community to honor Eleanor’s life of service to others.
Eleanor’s family is being supported in their grief by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home.
