Dolores "Dee" Annette Marquis, of Warren, Michigan, passed away on November 9, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born on November 6, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan as a gift from God to her parents Jasper and Marie Barker. Dee was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family meant everything to her.
Dolores married Lee Gerard "Jerry" Marquis on August 8, 1953. She spent most of her adult life living in Warren, Michigan. Dolores dedicated 30 years of her life to the Warren Parks and Recreation Department, where she impacted countless lives from children to senior citizens. She was also an MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association) official for over 50 years, officiating volleyball, basketball and softball.
Dee had a love of playing sports and especially enjoyed all of the friendships she made along the way. She competed in the Senior Olympics at the state and national level, and was a gold medalist in multiple events. She loved to travel and spent many years as a chaperone for senior citizen trips around the country and the world. She enjoyed planting flowers, craft making, attending mass, watching basketball, and reading.
Dolores was an active member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, a charitable organization that helps those in need. She had a special affection for them as she was adopted via St. Vincent DePaul as a baby. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Vincent DePaul at the links below.
Dolores is survived by her children; Chuck (Patty) Marquis, Bob Marquis, Thomas (Lynne) Marquis and Diann Marquis. She was a cherished grandmother to Erica Marquis, Aerin Marquis, Drew Marquis, Lindsay Marquis, Colin Marquis, Trevor Marquis, Ryan DeSantis, and Matthew DeSantis. Dolores was also a proud great-grandmother to Heidi and Waylon. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Jerry.
Dolores was a graduate of St. John School, class of 1951, in Jackson, Michigan, and continued her education at Michigan State University.
Dolores Annette Marquis will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her community, and her passion for life's experiences. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
