William P. Foran Sr.

William P. Foran, Sr. 94, of East Hartford, beloved husband of the late Shirley (Johnson) Foran, died Saturday, June 30, 2018 at St Francis Hospital. Born May 4, 1924 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Catherine (Galvin) Foran. Bill proudly served his country during WWII as a Medic for the U.S. Army in Europe. He continued his service to his community by serving over 42 years in the East Hartford Fire Department, retiring as Deputy Chief. Bill also served as sexton for St. Mary Cemetery for many years, and was a long-time member of Volunteer Hose Club #2. He is survived by his 3 children, William Jr. and Angela Foran of East Hartford, Maureen and Philip Rivard of Wakefield, RI and Kevin and Paula Foran of East Hartford; 5 grandchildren Amy and Christopher Bryan, Danielle Foran, Kristy Foran, Kevin Foran Jr. and Kelly Rivard; 4 great-grandchildren Gabriel, Jonah, Micah and Kace; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill’s family would like to thank the staff of the Oncology unit on 8-1 at St Francis Hospital for their wonderful care. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at St Mary Church, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford.
