Will was born on August 15, 1928 in Somerville, Massachusetts to the late Isaac and Grace (Currier) Morrison. He attended Aldrich High School in Rhode Island and the New England Conservatory where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music. Early in his career, while teaching at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School, he met Carolyn Smith, who fell in love with him while watching him play the piano for a recital.
