Thomas J. Higgins “Uncle Tommy”, 61, of East Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. He was born December 30, 1953 in Hartford to the late John T. and Ida (Risley) Higgins. He graduated South Catholic High, was employed by Design Resources of Middletown. He was a Veteran serving in the US Army. Tom was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. He enjoyed watching movies, (Bond, James Bond) music and lunches with the family. He will be most remembered for his caring and giving nature along with his sense of humor.
He will be dearly missed by his brothers, John Jr. and Nancy Higgins of OK, Charles Higgins and Richelle Carlone of Middletown; his nieces and nephews, Teresa Smith of Vernon, Heidi and Chris Millett of Enfield, Gene and Kendall Higgins of OK, Keith and Meribel Higgins of FL and John Higgins III of OK; his great nieces and nephews, Shantel Smith and Ray Berwick, Chaz, Cheyenne and Chelsea Millett, Micheal Higgins and Kylee Higgins; especially “the Cellar Dwellers” and many dear friends. Tom was predeceased by his sister Pat Higgins and his nephew Robin Smith.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 30, from 5 to 8PM, at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 10AM at the funeral home. Friends and family are welcome to gather at 9AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery.
