Therese Alice (Richard) Chirico

Thérèse Alice (Richard) Chirico, 79, of East Hartford, beloved wife for 50 years of Frank Chirico, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Born in Vireux-Molhain, France on June 29, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Marcel and Laure (Duchêne) Richard. As a child, Thérèse survived German occupation in France during WWII and immigrated to America in 1956. Prior to her retirement in 1997, she worked as a hair dresser at Henry’s Beauty Salon in Hartford, and was later employed for 25 years for Connecticut Bank & Trust, East Hartford. She was a member of the CBT Retiree’s Club and the Mount Carmel Society, as well as a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church in East Hartford. People remember her funny wit, open spirit, and caring personality. While she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and knitting, she was happiest when surrounded by her family. Thérèse will be dearly missed by her husband and care-giver Frank; two daughters, Miriam Chirico and fiancé Nicolas Simon of Glastonbury, and Sonia Ives and husband Timothy of Coventry, RI and her three cherished grandchildren, Vivian and Sean Ives, and Arthur Chirico. She is also survived by her brother, Michel Richard and wife Debbie of Los Lunas, NM; two sisters, Marguerite Fabro of France and Marie-France Gimbel and husband Ronald of SC, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Jean-Luc Richard. Special thanks to all her caregivers, but particularly Helen Juliano.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (February 25) at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Rd., East Hartford. Everyone is directed to go to the church. Burial will follow in Hillstown Road Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford.
