Tara Melissa (Piers) Ferrante, 41, of South Windsor, loving wife of Christopher J. Ferrante, peacefully entered into eternal rest with her beloved family by her side on Monday, January 29, 2024 after a long courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in New Britain on December 16, 1982 she grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School as a member of the class of 2000. She went on to Central Connecticut State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2005. She graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2009 with Master’s degree in Social Work. Tara was a licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Director for several years at The Root Center for Advanced Recovery in Hartford prior to working for the state of Connecticut Department of Children and Families where she was a Program Manager. She was also a member of the NASW.
Tara found peace in being outdoors. She loved her days at the beach along with hiking, camping, sitting around a fire making s’mores. She loved her dogs and got great pleasure being with them as much as she could. She also enjoyed going to concerts and baseball games, especially the Hartford Yard Goats where she was a season ticket holder. Tara had a tremendous attitude and battled cancer for twenty years as she overcame two bouts of breast cancer and two separate bouts of nodular melanoma. Most of all Tara was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend with a smile.
Along with her beloved husband Christopher, Tara is survived by her father, Brian J. Piers and his wife Kelly of Brimfield, MA; her mother, Melissa (Groop) Morse and her husband Robert of Plainville; two sisters, Heather Nadeau and her husband Patrick and their sons, Connor and Logan of Canton, Shannon Chamberlain and her husband Stephen of Coral Springs, FL; several aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, and dear friends. Tara was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Louise (Ferrante) Mazzoli of Manchester.
Funeral service will be Saturday (February 10th) at 11 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Wapping Cemetery, Oakland Road, South Windsor. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Friday (February 9th) from 4-7 pm.
