Shirley L. Sylvester

She was predeceased by her husband Herbert C. Sylvester.

Shirley was born in Haverhill, Mass and was daughter to the late Kenneth and Nancy Breed. She was a graduate of New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, 1947. Shirley had been the night Nursing Supervisor at Mount Sinai Hospital, before retiring in 1986. She was a very proud member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants.

She is survived and will be dearly missed by: a daughter, Gail Noske and her husband Ron of S. Windsor, sons; Chuck Sylvester and his wife, Kathy of Andover and Ken Sylvester of East Hartford, a sister, Karen Piper and her husband James of Harvard, MA, three grandchildren: Christopher Noske, Katie Noske and Nikole Sylvester, a brother in law: Gordon Sylvester and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 9:00am at the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, followed by the Prayer Service at 9:30am. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Visitation hours will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
