Robert “Bob” M. Shea, 69, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at his home. Born in Hartford on February 7, 1955, a son of the late William D. and Anna (Moran) Shea, he had resided in East Hartford for most of his life. Bob was a graduate of East Catholic High School, class of 1973 where he was a member of the boy’s track team. Prior to his retirement, Bob was employed for over 25 years by Hartford Distributors, Inc. in Manchester. An avid outdoorsman, Bob was your consummate hiker who also liked skiing and canoeing. He loved going to Vermont and spending time in the peacefulness and quietness of nature. He always enjoyed tending to his yard and gardens and was known by others for having a “green thumb”. Bob was a sports enthusiast, especially of the Boston sports teams - Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots, and was a loyal fan of UConn basketball and football. Most of all, Bob was a quiet, loving and caring brother, uncle, and great-uncle who received great joy spoiling his nieces and nephews.
Bob is survived by his sister, Patricia S. Easton and her husband Ed of Burnsville, MN; his two brothers, William “Bill” D. Shea and his wife Kathi of Charlotte, NC, Brian T. Shea and his partner Penni Bolt of Spring Hill, TN; his beloved nieces and nephews, Melissa Easton and her husband Jason Quehl and their children Shea, Charlie, Teddy, and Jack; William Easton and his wife Heather and their daughters Mary, Anna, Julia, and Clara; Jonathan Shea and his wife Basma and their children Christopher and Sophia; Daniel Shea; Paul Shea and his wife Kara Disipio and their daughter Katelyn; Jessica Prince and her husband John and their children Grayson, Lily, and Graham. He also leaves his life-long friend, Roy Proia of Northampton, MA; several cousins, former co-workers, and dear friends.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date and time to be announced by his family. There are no calling hours. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Mary’s Cemetery, (Section H), East Hartford. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
