Robert Huntington

Robert “Bob” Huntington, 95, of East Hartford, beloved husband for 64 years of the late Mary Jane (Balchunas) Huntington, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Born in Hartford on February 6, 1927, he was the son of the late Floyd and Gladys (Brusie) Huntington. Bob left high school at age 17 to join the US Navy during WW II. After serving for two years, he returned home to complete his education, graduating from East Hartford High School and marrying his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane. Bob was then recalled into service with the Navy for two additional years during the Korean War. He loved the game of football and played at the semi-professional level. He also enjoyed watching horseracing, especially the Triple Crown, and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Bob worked as a data analyst at Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company for more than 40 years.

A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bob will be forever missed by his two children, Susan McQuiggan and husband Michael of Manchester and Robert Huntington, Jr. and wife Debra of Manchester; five adored grandchildren, Brett, Lisa, Kathryn, Abigail and Robert and five cherished great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Bob was predeceased by two brothers, Harry and Floyd.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 20 at 11:30 a.m. at North American Martyr’s Parish (St. Mary’s Church), 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford.
