Rachel (Fortier) Lloyd, 93, of East Hartford, loving wife of 48 years of the late Randolph Lloyd, peacefully passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Born in Sainte Cecile, province of Quebec, Canada on January 31, 1928, a daughter of the late Alyre and Maria (Beaule) Fortier, she had been a resident of East Hartford since 1955. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 19 years as an Aide at Hartford Hospital. A devout catholic, Rachel was a faithful longtime communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford and a member of the church Retirees Club. She was also a member of the Red Hat Club of East Hartford.
Rachel is survived by her niece/goddaughter, Jose Morissette of Canada; a sister in Canada; two devoted caregivers, Jeanine Brikey of Vernon, and Steven L. Sirois of East Hartford with whom she made her home; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Fourteen siblings in Canada predeceased her.
Funeral service will be Monday (January 3, 2022) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Peace Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. There are no calling hours. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on the day of the funeral and please wear a facemask. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rachel’s name may be made to a favorite charity of the donor’s choice.
