Patricia (Donnelly) Costello, 80, beloved wife of the late Paul Costello, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Manchester Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in MA on March 17, 1935, a daughter of the late Alexander and Anne Donnelly, she has been a resident of East Hartford since 1967. Pat was a graduate of Boston College and was active in the starting and opening of the East Hartford Community Center. She also served on the Board of Trustees of ECHN. Pat’s devotion to family was demonstrated by the loving care she gave her late husband Paul, for many years. She was a strong, colorful woman who was fiercely independent till the end. She loved UConn Women’s Basketball, Golf and volunteering in her community.
Patricia was most proud of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by five sons; Timothy J. Costello and his wife Theresa of East Haven, Guy P. Costello and his wife Phyllis of Chesterfield, VA, Michael P. Costello of Old Lyme, John A Costello and his wife Donna of Manchester, Paul J. Costello Jr. and his wife Mavourneen of Vernon, and a daughter, Patricia Costello Read and her husband Christopher of Old Lyme. In addition, she leaves a sister and her husband, Marge and Jim Grieb of York, Maine; a brother and his wife, Paul and Arlene Donnelly of York, ME; a brother in law and his wife, Leo and Elaine Costello of Hull, MA; 11 special grandchildren, 2 adored great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Relatives and friends may call on Sunday afternoon, April 19, from 2 to 4 PM at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St. East Hartford. A private funeral and burial will be held on Monday. Memorial donations in Pat’s name may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of CT, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.
