Nancy (Rivers) O’Connor, 84, loving wife of 54 years to the late James R. O’Connor, of East Hartford and Glastonbury, journeyed home to be with her husband on Sunday, December 6, 2020 from complications with Covid-19. Born in Hartford on October 24, 1936, a daughter of the late William and Florence (Riley) Rivers, she had been a resident of East Hartford for 60 years prior to moving to Glastonbury.
Prior to her retirement, Nancy was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford for over 25 years. She was an active member of the Travelers Retirees Club and Travelers Girls Club. A devout catholic, Nancy was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford.
Nancy loved all animals, especially her dogs whom she loved like children over the years. She was always happy and laughing. She never complained and was easy to forgive. Nancy loved her family. She loved Hallmark movies, hotdogs, Sweet Bitch wine, and word search books. Nancy didn’t need a lot; she found happiness in the simplest of things. She made the day a little brighter for so many people by being a great listener, cheerleader, and friend. She loved life and still had so much to give until the virus took her prematurely.
Nancy is survived by three daughters, Kathleen L. Cipolla and her husband Frank of Glastonbury, Darlene M. McCarthy and her husband Daniel of Tolland, Kelly O. Britt and her husband Rob of Rocky Hill; a son, James William O’Connor and his wife Lana of Bozrah; a sister, Betty Mitchell of Ellington; and a brother-in-law, Michael O’Connor and his wife Diane of Ellington.
