Mary H. Roy, 97, passed away peacefully at Aaron Manor in Chester, Connecticut on Saturday, January 24, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born in Windber, Pennsylvania on September 27, 1917. A long time resident of East Hartford, Mary enjoyed being with her family and attending Mass at St. Isaac Jogues Church. She retired from the former State Welding Company in Hartford where she worked as an office manager for over 30 years. Mary graduated from Windber High School in 1935. She is survived by her loving and devoted nephew, Steven T. Hudak of Westbrook, her niece, Susan R. Waide, nephew, David M. Waide, and treasured great nephew, Isaac M. Waide of East Haddam, and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sister Mary Ruth Roy of West Hartford. She is predeceased by her parents Katherine (Bestkid) and Nicholas Herbik, her husband of 30 years, Raymond Roy, her brothers and sisters: Stephen Herbik, Kathryn Wargo, Joseph Herbik, Ann Young, Helen Drozewski, Pauline Zembeck, and Thelma Hudak. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Mary’s devoted home caregivers especially Jennifer and Mary Ann and the Aaron Manor staff and Lighthouse caregivers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 31 at 10 a.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 1 Community Street, East Hartford. Friends may meet directly at the church.
