Marion P. Vendola, 93, of Berlin, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2021 with family by her side. Wife to her best friend, lifetime partner, and husband of 65 years, the late Dominic J. Vendola- they were apart only 7 weeks and now reunited in Christ. Marion and Dominic worked hard to raise their two sons while also making sure to make time for family outings with plenty of happy memories. Whether it was a trip to Wells, Maine or Hilltop Steakhouse in Saugus, Mass, both Marion and Dominic did everything together. In the winter, Marion and Dominic would go to Myrtle Beach with Marion’s brother, Anthony and sister-in-law, Mary. Marion enjoyed playing cards with her extended family just about every weekend when they weren’t visiting a local casino or dog track for an afternoon of excitement and fun. Marion will certainly be remembered for her devotion to the Boston Red Sox and UConn women’s basketball. Together, Marion and Dominic enjoyed duck pin bowling, even holding a couple records in the sport. At Christmas time, Marion enjoyed switching Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with her brother and sister-in-law Mary, and making homemade raviolis, a roast, and even homemade lasagna for Christmas Eve. Every day for Marion revolved around her beloved family and spending time together. The last couple of months of Marion and Dominic’s lives were spent with their son James and his husband Jonathan at their home in Berlin. Marion and Dominic treasured their time spent with James and Jonathan as their caretakers. In addition to her beloved husband, Dominic, Marion is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Ann (Cataltdi) Bellody, and her sister-in-law Mary Bellody. Marion is survived by her loving sons, Michael Roush, of East Hartford and James Vendola and husband Jonathan Guerrero, of Berlin, her brother Anthony Bellody, of South Windsor, sisters-in-law Mary Botticello and her husband Joseph, of Vernon, and Josephine Ryder, of Rockville. She will also be missed by several beloved nieces and nephews. A period of visitation will be held at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford on Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 3:00pm-6:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford- please meet the Vendola family directly at church.
