John was born August 23, 1953 a lifetime resident of East Harford, CT the son of late John and Rose (Kozma) Hajkowski and late brother of Gary Hajkowski. He was an 18 year survivor of lymphoma cancer and for the last 7 months he was battling pancreatic cancer. At a young age of 14 years old he started his first job at a Deli on Silver Lane, graduating East Hartford High School in 1972, continuing his education at central state University and then Manchester Community College earning his associate of science in June of 1978, going forth he started his 47 year career as a machinist at Pratt and Whitney.
All who know him knows he was a fanatic couponer, and stock piles, the Coupon Master will say. How much he loved his polka music, in which he enjoyed with, a smile on his face as he would have us sit and listen with him.
John was the most selfless person and loved to do for others, including Donation to charities and was a faithful member to St. Mary’s Church of East Hartford, CT. He survived by four children James Hajkowski of East Hartford, CT, Joseph Hajkowski of Enfield, CT and his Twin daughters Sandra Pelletier of East Harford, CT and Tina Shedrick and her husband John Shedrick, along with his grandchildren Makayla and Alyssa Shedrick, Mason Pelletier, Rocco and Harlie Hajkowski.
Calling Hours for John will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, Connecticut 06108. A brief gathering prior to Church will occur Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 8:30 AM to 9:20 AM, 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, Connecticut 06108. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St Mary Church, 15 Maplewood Ave, East Hartford, Connecticut 06108. A Committal Service will occur Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St Mary's Cemetery, 930 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to St. Mary's Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford, Connecticut 06108.
