Joan Irene Height

Joan Irene Height, 77, of Manchester and formerly of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford. Born in Rockville on May 12, 1945, a daughter of the late Dan A. and Irene (Mattis) Height, she had been a resident of East Hartford for most of her life prior to moving to Manchester 11 years ago. Joan was a graduate of East Hartford High School, class of 1963 and was employed for over 20 years by J.C. Penney Warehouse in Manchester until her retirement. She was a very talented and active cross stitching individual who loved making personal items for her family and friends to enjoy, especially at special occasions. She was also an avid reader and loyal fan of the UConn Women’s basketball team.

Joan is survived by her three beloved brothers, Alan Height and his wife Nancy of Higganum, Kenneth Height and his wife Debra of Leesburg, FL and formerly of Glastonbury, Roger Height and his wife Susan of Bloomfield; a special longtime dear friend, Phyllis Spak of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, former co-workers, and friends.

Funeral service will be Wednesday (October 19th) at 7 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday evening from 5 – 7 pm. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Bernard Cemetery in Rockville.
