Gary Lee Carlson was born to Harold and Muriel Carlson in Manchester, CT on September 16, 1955. He is survived by his three children, Heath Carlson, Elke Gates, and Ian Carlson and their families. He is also survived by his older brother Dean Carlson and his family. Gary was predeceased by his older brother Robert Carlson and his parents. Gary was an avid fisherman and all-around water sports enthusiast. He loved fishing at lakes, surfcasting on Cape Cod, and going out for tuna and stripers. His occupation was Master Carpenter, but there was not much he could not figure out or fix. One of his children’s favorite memories was when he built them a go-cart out of a snow mobile motor, wood, and scrap metal. Later, while living on a farm, he built a dump truck with small pick-up truck and hydraulics from an old plow frame. He found a small motorboat on the side of the road and completely renovated it to a worthy water vessel. From plumbing to electrical and right down to replacing the foot valve in your well, he could truly do it all. His knowledge and mentorship on how to fix anything and everything will be greatly missed. Gary passed peacefully in his home on October 12, 2022. He was 67 years old. Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, Burnside Avenue, East Hartford has been entrusted with arrangements. Services for Gary Carlson will be held at the convenience of the family.
