Elio F. D’Aloisio, 92, of East Hartford, loving husband of 61 years of the late Eda (Quattrocchi) D’Aloisio, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at his home. Born in Pratola Peligna, province of Aquila, Italy on November 30, 1921, a son of the late Venanzio and Elisa (D’Andrea) D’Aloisio, he had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 60 years. Elio was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1940. He later graduated with Cum Laude honors from Porter School of Tool & Machine Design and attended Boston University where he received his Certificate in Engineering. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army –reaching the rank of Sergeant in the 78th Infantry Division during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 37 years by New Britain Machine Company as a Mechanical Design Engineer. During his tenure at New Britain Machine Company, Elio was granted 3 US patents. Elio enjoyed fishing, shooting sports, and golf. He was a charter member of the Hartford Surf Fishing Club; a life-member of the Windsor Marksmen’s Association; a member of the 78th Infantry Division Association; and a faithful communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford. Elio is survived by his three sons, Richard A. D’Aloisio and his wife, Thuan, of Riverside, CA, Peter J. D’Aloisio of East Hartford with whom he made his home, Marc D’Aloisio and his wife, Denise, of East Hartford; three grandchildren, Dr. Chad D’Aloisio of Chatsworth, CA, Anson D’Aloisio, PhD and his wife, Heather, of Austin, TX, Mika D’Aloisio of East Hartford; a step-granddaughter, Danielle McCahill of Willimantic; and a great-grandson, Vince D’Aloisio of Chatsworth, CA. He also leaves behind a sister, Mary Betters of East Hartford; two brothers, Nicola “Nick” D’Aloisio of South Windsor, Vincenzo “Jimmy” D’Aloisio of Glastonbury; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday (February 18th) at 9:15 am from the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Veteran’s Memorial Field-Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Monday (February 17th) from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of the donor’s choice.
