Claire was the daughter of Leo and Marie Goodno, born 8/9/1940. She leaves her best friend and Sister Margery D’Avanzo, her niece and godchild Julie and nephews Thomas and Michael.
Claire was a 1958 graduate of East Hartford High. After graduation, she went to work for Dr. Edward McGrath who she worked for almost 30 years. Dr. Thomas Galvin joined the practice and became partner. Claire also helped get his practice going in East Hartford. Claire also served as Treasurer of The Hartford Dental Assistant’s Association.
Claire decided that after so many years in dentistry a change was in order. She got her word processing degree and went to work at The Travelers. Claire worked at Travelers for 15 years. She Retired for 6 months (mandatory by Travelers) and went back for 6 months until the arthritis in her back forced her to retire in 2007. Claire is a 3-time cancer survivor.
Claire loved her job and co-workers. It was very difficult to leave the job she loved so much.
Claire loved to travel and went to places like Canada (Niagara Falls), California, Florida, Bermuda, Nassau, Freeport, twice to Hawaii and many times to Las Vegas.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose Church, East Hartford CT and burial in the family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford CT.
