Claire Franklin

Claire J. (Tessier) Franklin, 98, formerly of East Hartford and Port St. Lucie, Florida, beloved wife of the late Paul E. Franklin, passed away on May 1, 2023. Claire was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island of the late Albert and Ida (Gaboury) Tessier. She was employed at Sears Department Store as a Credit Investigator for 30 years. Claire was an avid reader and enjoyed solving word puzzles. A devout Catholic, Claire was a long time faithful communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford.

Claire is survived by her three children; Paula J. Newsom and husband Robert of Port St. Lucie, FL, Lisa A. Flinn and husband Chris Freyer of Benbrook, TX, Steven P. Franklin of East Hartford, CT; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Claire is predeceased by her four siblings; Raymond Tessier of East Hartford, Alfred Tessier of Enfield, Doris M. Tessier of East Hartford, and Lillian A. Tessier of East Hartford.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Claire’s name may be made to St. Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford, CT 06118.
