Cecile (Daigle) Comeau, beloved wife of the late Camille Comeau for 67 wonderful years, passed away peacefully at home in East Hartford on Sunday, September 22, 2024. She was born in Saint Charles, N.B., Canada to Clara (Albert) and Fidele Daigle. Although Fidele sadly left this world when Cecile was very young, she was blessed to be lovingly raised by her mother and devoted stepfather, Pierre Daigle, in a vibrant family of eleven siblings.
After celebrating a double wedding ceremony with her brother, Joseph and his bride, Angeline, she immigrated to the U.S with Camille where they grew a loving family of five children, Daniel (Janet) of Manchester, Denise (Kevin Flynn) of Charlotte, NC, James (Karen) of East Hartford, Mark (Debra) of Coventry and Annette (Brian Coughlin) of East Hartford, nine grandchildren (Paul, Karrie, Valerie, Courtney, Gabrielle, Coleen, MaryClaire, Megan and Brianna) and four great grandchildren (Ryder, Wyatt, Levi and Camille). While raising her family, she held several part-time jobs until joining NCCI as an office clerk where she worked until retirement.
Petite in stature and voice, Cecile amazed us all with her incredible strength as she faced a variety of health and life challenges with unwavering class and grace. Deeply devoted to her faith, she had been an active member of The Blessed Sacrament Ladies Guild where she made several lifelong treasured friends. Cecile also worked for many years as a volunteer usher at The Bushnell, enjoying both the performances and helping theater guests. Cecile found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from indulging in a sweet treat and reading to crocheting and feeding hummingbirds. She is affectionately known as the family’s baby and plant whisperer, bringing a calm energy that allows both to thrive and bloom.
Cecile taught her family to cherish each other, to appreciate blue skies and puffy clouds and to celebrate major milestones with a tea party. Throughout her life, she was excited to visit and experience places she had only dreamed of as a child, including Hawaii, Paris, and Vienna.
In addition to her family with Camille, she leaves behind three sisters (Jeannette Usher, Oliva Guimond and Denise Daigle) and three brothers (Joseph, Laurent and Real Daigle) as well as many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters (May Richard, Rena Arsenault, and Marie Lacroix) and two brothers (Paul, Martin Daigle).
Her spirit and warmth will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
