Barbara G. Boyd Age: 73 , of East Hartford, Beloved wife of Fred C. Boyd, passed away on June 26, 2013 at Salmon Brook Center, Glastonbury after a long illness, surrounded by loving family. She was born September 21, 1938 in Springfield, Vermont to the late Henry and Beatrice (Martell) Gosselin.
She graduated and attended North Hampton Commercial College, moving to Hartford in 1958. Mrs. Boyd was employed by Pratt and Whitney, CNA Insurance, and The Connecticut Fair Plan Insurance, retiring in 2003. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC church, as well as active in The Woman of the Moose Chapter 1470, East Hartford. She was a loving mother devoted to her family, always available for guidance. She enjoyed dancing, karaoke, bingo, and crocheting and spent much of her time watching and cheering on UConn athletics. She will be most remembered for the family she raised and the loving home and gardens she kept.
In addition to her husband Fred of 53 years, Barbara is survived and will be dearly missed by her sons, Christopher of Manchester, Todd and his wife Patty of East Hartford; her 5 Grandchildren: Richard, Jason, Amber, Alfred, and Victoria; her 8 Great Grandchildren: Andrew, Addison, Jason Jr., Anthony, Jayde, Jacinda, Arianna, and John. She was predeceased by her son David, her sister Beatrice Marion Gould, and her brother Henry Gosselin Jr.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 10:30 at Our Lady of Peace RC church, 370 May Road, East Hartford, friends are asked to gather at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Calling hours will be held June 28th, from 4 to 8 PM at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
