Henrietta F. Smith “Edie” (nee Kieft) of East Aurora, NY entered into heaven August 17, 2019 at age 97 after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Egbert and Marie Kieft (Wildebar) of Buffalo and Hamburg. She was the loving wife of over 70 years to the late Carl “Dutch” Smith. She is survived by her children, Richard (Carol) Smith , Terry (late Carol) Smith, Cora (Robert) Beyer, Tod Smith, and Tina (Michael) Nowicki. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Sister of Dora (late Andrew) Kruly and was predeceased by her siblings, Henry (late Jean) Kieft, Elsie (late George) Harding, Marie (late William) Hartmans. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was born in South Buffalo, where she was a graduate of South Park High School in 1939. She loved high school business school, track and dancing. Later, she worked for Grants department store. She and Carl were South Buffalo sweethearts, who married in 1942. Her later passions included family, church, cooking, gardening, picnics, dancing, pets, animals and politics. She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in East Aurora. The family will be present on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the WOOD FUNERAL HOME 784 Main Street, East Aurora, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at the First Presbyterian Church of East Aurora at 10AM. Please assemble at the church. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
