Robert "Bob" Thornton

Robert E. “Bob” Thornton, of East Amherst, NY entered into rest on October 28, 2021 at age 81. Beloved husband of 52 years to Robbye (née Schultz) Thornton; devoted father of Robyn (Justin Hooper) Thornton and Robert “Rob” (Leeann) Thornton; cherished Grampa of Rachel, Blake aka Lauren and Kenneth; dear brother of Edmund “Ed” (Susan Leonard), the late William “Bill” (the late Jeanette), the late Gerald “Jerry” (the late Bettie), the late Richard “Rich” (Joyce) and the late Patricia “Patt” (James “Jim” Dick); also survived by cherished nieces and nephews.

Bob retired from Outokumpu American Brass and was a longtime volunteer for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Shea’s Performing Arts Center, UB Center for the Arts, Visit Buffalo Niagara, Airport Ambassadors, Amherst Senior Center, Lamm American Legion Post, and Canisius College Hockey. Bob was an avid Notre Dame and INDYCAR fan.

Relatives and friends may visit DENGLER, ROBERTS, PERNA FUNERAL HOME, 8630 Transit Rd., East Amherst, NY 14051 on Friday (November 5, 2021) from 5-8pm and on Saturday (November 6, 2021) from 9-10:30am, where a memorial service will immediately follow at 10:30am. Face masks required. On Saturday, in celebration of Bob, the family will be wearing Notre Dame attire.
