Beloved husband of Caroline (Close) Rimlinger, Loving father of Craig (Laura Johnston) Rimlinger and Eric (Maureen) Rimlinger. Dear Grandpa of Adam, Lane, Grace and Jack. Brother of Lois Tutino, Late Donald (Kathy) Rimlinger. Also survived by nieces and nephews. No prior visitation, Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass to celebrate the life of Gary on Friday November 11 at 10:00am from The Newman Center at UB on Skinnersville Road. In 1965, Gary graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lancaster, NY. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1969. He also went on to receive a Master’s degree in Education from Niagara University in Niagara Falls, NY and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron in Akron, OH.
Gary began his professional career as a math teacher and subsequently as Dean of Students at St. Mary’s High School in Lancaster, NY. In 1979, he and his family relocated to Akron, OH where he joined the aerospace engineering department at Goodyear Aerospace. In 2003, he retired as Vice President of Engineering. After returning to the Western New York area, Gary taught math at Gateway Longview in Williamsville, NY and later as an adjunct professor at Genesee Community College in Batavia, NY.
Volunteer work was very important to Gary. He participated in a tutoring program at Gerard Place, served as a volunteer for Transport for Cancer Patients and worked annually as an AARP Tax Aid.
