Barbara J. (nee Bruyea) Cammarata, of Pendleton, entered into rest on November 18, 2022 at age 77. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Cammarata; devoted mother of David (Debra) Cammarata, Stephen Cammarata (Linda Milleville) and Alisa (Geno) Barone; cherished grandmother of Anthony, Courtney (Christopher), Jacob, Joseph, Lauryn, Thomas and Nicolas; loving daughter of the late Lemuel and Mary Bruyea; dear sister of Charles (Brenda) Bruyea, Margaret "Peggy" Schon, Ann (Joe) Golisano, Marilyn "Buzzy" (Michael) Valle and the late Kathleen Ellison; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Family was always first with Barb, but she found time to complete her education as a nurse and ultimately a professor, working at various hospitals, nursing homes, the VNA and McCauley Seton Home Care. She was a professor at NCCC, Niagara University, and retired from Trocaire College.
Barbara was a devout Catholic and her faith was an integral part of her life. Daily mass, the rosary, the Eucharist and the Bible were all very important to her. She did her thesis on spiritual care and was the parish nurse at St Patrick's Church in Lockport. She was a founding board member of Niagara Hospice and was dedicated to bringing hospice services to Niagara County.
Barbara loved reading, traveling baking and being involved with her Church community over the years.
Relatives and friends may visit DENGLER, ROBERTS, PERNA FUNERAL HOME, 8630 Transit Rd., East Amherst, on Sunday (November 27, 2022) from 1-3pm and on Monday (November 28, 2022) from 9-10am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 6919 Main St., Swormville, at 11am. Interment Cold Springs Cemetery.
