Willa Mae Matthews

Ms. Willa Mae Norris Matthews, age 90 of Erwin died on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn.

Ms. Matthews was born on August 30, 1931 in Harnett County the daughter of the late

Carlie T. Norris and Cherry Lena Tyndall Norris and is preceded in death by her husband Sherrill Leon Matthews. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, William Paul Norris and Silas Edward Norris and sisters, Doris Blalock and Arlena McLeod.

Ms. Matthews retired with 15 years of service at Burlington Industries in Erwin as a cloth inspector and worked several year at Sherry's Bakery in Erwin, NC.

Heaven received one of its greatest Angels Sunday. Willa Mae Matthews, passed away early Sunday morning. She was never critical of anyone and loved everyone. She was an inspiration and spiritual support for anyone who knew her.

Ms. Willa was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devoted Christian, singing and praising the Lord through her voice. She and her husband, Sherrill loved to sing and play bluegrass, but the old time gospel music was her favorite. She not only loved her family, she loved other people and never met a stranger.

A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Devotional Gardens in Dunn.

She is survived by: Daughter: Connie Mae Dorman Massengill & (husband) George Terry of Erwin, NC.

Son: Kenneth Dorman of Dunn, NC.

Sister: Linda Faye Norris Allen & (husband) Dennis Wayne (Sam) Allen of Dunn, NC.

Grandchildren: Alisha Marie Massengill & (husband) Kenneth Joseph Ennis and Valerie Teresa Dorman

Great Grandchildren: Treveon Dashawn Williams and Torrey Keshawn Williams.

Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home in Dunn, NC.
