Garner, NC Wesley Rogers Godwin Wesley Rogers Godwin of Garner, NC passed away peacefully Sunday Morning, October 30, 2016 at Transitions Life Care surrounded by family.Wesley was born February 22, 1940 in Sampson County, NC. He is preceded in death by his parents Rena Mae Averette Godwin and Joseph Enoch Godwin and his beloved brother Joseph Robert Godwin. He is survived by his loving and beloved wife, Faye Lockamy Godwin, and two daughters: Cammie Melvin(Bailey) of Greenville, NC and Kimberly Pollard (Alex) of Greensboro, NC. “PA” is also loved and cherished by six grandchildren, Wesley, Will, Stephen and Kelli Melvin and Elizabeth and Ryan Pollard. Also surviving are sister in law Betsy Godwin of Mt. Pleasant, NC, brother-in-law John P. Lockamy, Jr. (Marguerite) of Dunn, sister-in-law Lynn Lee (Jake) of Dunn. He loved and was loved by nephews and nieces and their families. He will be dearly missed by family as well as friends in the Garner area and at Lake Gaston where he spent much time. A funeral service will be held at Garner Free Will Baptist Church 1133 Benson Road, Garner, NC on Tuesday, November 1 at 11:00 am. Visitation will follow the service and burial will be at 4:00 pm at the Godwin Family Cemetery in Dunn, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Salvation Army 902 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. Wesley worked as a field engineer for NCR Corporation for 31 years. After retiring from NCR, he worked for Southern States Nissan, but his main job became grandparenting, at which he excelled. He was very active in Garner Free Will Baptist Church. Though he served in many official capacities in his church, he will be most remembered for how he loved and served his friends. He was always willing to help any family member, friend, or even a stranger who had a need. He loved working hard, fixing things and solving problems.
