Mrs. Josephine Young Pope died Tuesday November 3, 2015 at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation in Dunn. She was born May 1, 1925 in Johnston County to the late Benton and Lois Watkins Young. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Faison “Red” Pope, two sisters, Irene Nall and Lucille Pearson, and a brother, T.B. Young. Mrs. Pope worked for over 30 years as a dedicated nursing assistant and caregiver to many. Mrs. Pope also attended Gospel Tabernacle for many years. Mrs. Pope is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Pope McLaurin and husband Merrill of Wade, and Kami Pope Eason of Dunn, four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Eason, Lori Beth Eason and fiancé James Manning, Merrill (Trey) McLaurin III and wife Priscilla, and Adam Jeffrey Eason, great grandchildren, Sara Jo McLaurin and Deacon Giles Eason. She is also survived by two sisters, Katie Myatt and Beatrice Carroll and a brother, Bob Young. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday November 5, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn with the Rev. Sammy McLamb and Rev. Sherrill Pope officiating. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the administration and staff of Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation for their exceptional care, far above and beyond expectations.
