John Paul Phillips was born on July 6, 1972 in Bay County, MI to Johnny McKerry Phillips and Darlene C. Phillips.
John Paul loved to work never afraid to get his hands dirty.
“JP”, loved life. He loved the Lord!
“JP’s” affectionate smile, brown puppy-dog-eyes, and kind hearted “unique” personality never meeting a stranger. His smile always lighting up the room.
Being outdoors fishing, camping, and family time was special to him. “JP”, a big kid at heart with a childlike spirit loved just being joyful making everyone laugh.
“JP” loved all music, and riding scooters.
John Paul loved working with his hands. Always taking pride in his work a jack-of-all-trades.
“JP”, loved Ford Mustangs, as a child went to a dealership wanting to put a “Ford Mustang” on layaway.
If someone needed him, he was always there to lend a hand.
John Paul’s philosophy, always paid-it-forward, a life without pomp and circumstance. Through life “JP”, moved forward learning from life’s mistakes; live in the day not the past.
His father Johnny McKerry Phillips and a nephew, Jon Christopher Phillips, preceded “JP” in death.
Left behind to cherish the “JP” memory, is a daughter Katelyn Ann Phillips, of San Antonio, TX: a son, Matthew Paul Phillips, of Dunn, NC; his mother Darlene C. Phillips, of Dunn, NC; his grandfather, Howard Williams Sr., of Beaverton, MI.
Two sisters, Johnna April Fann, and husband Gary, of Dunn, NC and Cindy Phillips Jackson and husband, Kent, of Dunn, NC; a brother, Chris Phillips, and wife Sylvia, of Mingo, NC; nieces and nephews, Brandi Engelhardt, Nathan Barefoot, and wife Tiffany, Rachel Hoffman, and husband Jamie, Christopher Phillips, and wife Allison, Samuel Medlin, and Wyatt Medlin, also survive “JP”.
Many cousins, aunts, uncles, and a host of extended family and friends also survive him.
Family and friends will gather from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home.
A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home.
