Ms. Janice Blanchard Strickland, age 87 of Dunn died Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehab in Dunn, NC.

Ms. Strickland was born January 1, 1936 in Sampson County the daughter of the late Joel Edgar Blanchard and Betty Page Blanchard and is preceded in death by her husband, Wildon O. Strickland. She is also preceded in death by brothers, J. R. (Buddy) and Willie H. Blanchard and sisters, Betty Lou Blanchard, Nadine Sessoms, Eveleen Honeycutt and Lettie Moore.

Ms. Strickland was raised in Sampson County and was a member of Baptist Chapel Church. She was retired from Fieldcrest Manufacturing in Smithfield.

Ms. Janice loved collecting old wheat pennies and listening to the Statler Brothers sing.

She developed rheumatoid arthritis in her 20’s so as the years went on it got worse so that limited her activities, her doctor was at Duke Medical Center so she became a Duke Basketball fan and enjoyed watching the games on Television.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Baptist Chapel Church with Rev. Tre Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by: Four Nephews: Glenn Blanchard of Godwin, NC.

Leamon Moore & (wife) Joyce of Linden, NC.

Larry Moore of Linden, NC

J.C. Sessoms & (wife) Faye of Autryville, NC.

Nieces: Jean Williams & (husband) Steve of Raleigh, NC.

Louise Morgan of Linden, NC.

Lois Thornhill of Raleigh, NC.

Linda Miller & (husband) David of Fayetteville, NC.

Lisa Edney & (husband) Roy of Coats, NC

Many Great Nieces and Nephews and Great Great Nieces and Nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 16, 2023 from 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm at Baptist Chapel Church in Autryville, NC. One hour prior to the service.

Flowers are welcome but memorials may be made to Baptist Chapel Church, 2208 Baptist Chapel Rd., Autryville, NC 28318
